Low Calorie Diet Consequences
In this Low Calorie Diet Consequences you will find out exactly what happens to your organism when you use this "completely flawed" weight loss approach for an extended period of time! As you found out in the last article, your body can’t tell the difference between when you are using a low calorie diet and starvation. Whenever you use this approach, it is only a matter of time until your body starts to slow down its calorie burning ability, to conserve its energy (calories) so that it can survive for a longer period of time!
One of the worst low calorie diet consequences is that -- what was once your maintenance daily calorie intake -- before your body started to slow down your metabolism because of the sharp drop in calories -- eventually becomes a daily calorie surplus. As you keep dropping your calories, to make sure that you keep losing weight while using a low calorie approach, your body will continue to slow down your metabolism more and more. In fact, your metabolism can slow down by as much as 50% during a low calorie diet. In reality here is how this all happens: As soon as your body senses that your calorie consumption has dropped below BMR (basal metabolic rate) -- it triggers the "starvation response" and starts to burn up your protein tissues (mostly your muscle), by converting your protein tissues into glucose and "burning it off" -- as an energy source. Since your organism views this drastic drop in your daily calorie consumption as the start of "starvation" -- it lowers your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) so that it does not have to expand so much energy (calories) and so that you can "survive" for a longer period of time while your daily calorie intake is so low! Simultaneoulsy, your body will start to increase your appetite in order to get you to eat more food. If you continue to stick to your low calories diet, as a consequence, your organism will sharply increase your craving for food, and the hunger pangs will force you to throw in the white towel -- and go off your diet!
When the Pendulum Swings!
The next low calorie diet consequence is this: Since your body burned off some of your protein tissues, and you have less muscle mass, your metabolism will not burn the calories that come from your food and beverages -- as efficiently as it was burning "before" you started using low calorie dieting! This will obvioulsy cause you to gain back the weight that you lost during the low calorie diet. And the majority of the people not only gain back the weight that they lost while sticking with the low calorie diet, but in addition, they gain a few more pounds -- on top of that. By the way, this ability that your body has to slow down it's calorie burning -- is the major reason why many dieters can eat half of what they were eating before they started their diets, and not lose any weight! An extremely slow metabolism is also one of the major reasons why so many people are struggling to lose those last few pounds, and no matter what they try, -- are not succeeding. And, without a doubt, this is one of the major causes of obesity. It is clear, that if a low calorie approach is used over, and over a few times, the drop in the metabolism is enough to gain massive amounts of unwanted body fat from a small daily calorie intake! And, if you were born with a naturally slow metabolism, the low calorie diet consequences are going to be simply -- devastating!
Low Calorie Diet Consequences: Medical Studies!
Study after study have shown that the weight loss from low calorie dieting, will always be around 50% muscle, 25% water and only 25% unwanted body fat. In addition to this, it is a well known scientific fact that anyone that uses a low calorie diet, and at the same time uses a low carb diet approach -- the water loss percentage will be even higher. So, while the "scale weight" will show that there is excellent progress, in reality this person will be going backwards, and will be causing major damage to his or her health! Most people using a low calorie diet think that they are losing mostly body fat. But in reality almost 75% of that weight is muscle and water. And, when there is massive water loss, your body doesn't burn body fat as efficiently, because the liver has to help your kidneys do their job of cleaning out the toxins from your body. Another low calorie diet consequence is that your organism will adjusts its chemistry, and in the future will store more body fat, just in case there is another sharp drop in your daily calorie intake in the future. This is simply how your body "insures" that it can it can survive for a longer period of time during these types of "food shortages." But when it comes to losing unwanted body fat -- the worst low calorie diet consequence -- is that you energy levels will drop dramatically, and you simply will have "zero" desire to use exercise to help your body to "burn off" the unwanted body fat that is currently stored inside of your fat cells! Without using cardio training and weight training -- creating permanent fat loss is almost impossible, especially if you have an endomorph dominant body type, and were born with a naturally slow metabolism!
