List of Negative Calorie Foods

Here is a really useful list of negative calorie foods:

1) Vegetables: asparagus, beet root, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, celery, chicory, hot chili, cucumber, garden cress, garlic, green beans, lettuce, onion, radish, spinach, tomato, turnip, zucchini

2) Fruits: apple, blueberries, cantaloupe, cranberry, grapefruit, honeydew, lemon, lime, mango, orange, papaya, pineapple, raspberry, strawberry, tangerine

During the digestion and utilization of these foods your organism expands more calories than these foods actually contain. But eating these foods by themselves will not create long term weight loss results.

This will lead to your body not having enough calories to function properly, and if you do not consume other nutrients with these foods, you will start to lose muscle mass and will start to experience a drop in your energy levels.

Knowing which foods possess a negative calorie effect of course can help you create meals that are low in calories, and in the long term this can become one of the elements of an effective weight loss strategy.

But in the beginning of your weight loss program consuming too many of these foods will always backfire.

The most devastating affect of consuming too many of these negative calorie foods by themselves is hunger and a sharp increase in appetite.

Once your body realizes that it is not receiving other important nutrients it will trigger its defense mechanisms and will force you to eat other foods.

So while the list of negative calorie foods can be used as a tool for creating low calorie meals, this should be done only when you have mastered the basics and fundamentals of proper nutrition.

And this includes consuming the right amount of calories for your body, using the right nutrient ratios for your body type, and last but not least choosing the optimum meal frequency for your major health goal.

These topics are covered in the nutrition sections of this site, and when you have the time I recommend that you read them to get an idea of how to create an effective nutrition strategy that will help you to create a lean, healthy body that you can be proud of!
