The Insanity Workout Diet is not just for people trying to get a bikini body fast by pushing themselves with the Shaun T’s Insanity workout.
Since I am taking the Shaun T insanity fitness challenge for 60 days, I thought it would be the perfect time to also try the Insanity Workout Diet or Elite Nutrition Plan. As part of my five days on a diet experiment, I strictly adhered to the Team Beachbody Insanity Diet Plan. But did I lose weight or lose my mind with the Insanity diet?
An Insanity Elite Nutrition Plan book was included in my purchase of the Beachbody Insanity Workout with Saun T. If you are doing any kind of intense exercise such as the TurboFire, P90X, the Slim in 6 workouts or running, the diet plan would help you get a bikini body fast.
Experts are now saying it’s important to exercise harder for weight loss, but with that comes the nutrition and diet side.
Here’s what you need to know about the Insanity Workout Diet: Elite Nutrition Plan:
No 1: Tips for following the Team Beachbody Insanity Diet/Elite Nutrition Plan: Eat five meals a day with roughly the same amount of calories. I liked the idea of eating five meals a day as opposed to six. Jenny Craig suggests eating six times a day, but some experts such as Jillian Michaels suggests grazing too often can backfire.
No. 2: Tips for following the Team Beachbody Insanity Diet/Elite Nutrition Plan: Each meal is supposed to be around 40 percent protein, 40 percent carb and 20 percent fat. The Elite Nutrition Plan breakdown is reasonable.
No. 3: Tips for following the Team Beachbody Insanity Diet/Elite Nutrition Plan: Focus on foods with a low glycemic index instead of candy and junk food that causes a rapid rise and then drop in blood sugar.
No. 4: Tips for following the Team Beachbody Insanity Diet/Elite Nutrition Plan: The plan suggest avoiding alcohol, sugar substitutes and additives. If I was craving soda, I had Zevia with the Stevia plant instead of artificial sweeteners.
No. 5: Tips for following the Team Beachbody Insanity Diet/Elite Nutrition Plan: Calculate how many calories you can eat. They suggest using the Harris Benedict Equation. I advise using a Tanita scale which can tell you how many calories you burn while resting and based on a level of exercise. Another option is to see a physical trainer about the breath test that accurately determines your resting metabolic rate (RMR). When participating in intense exercise, it’s fine to eat the same number of calories as your RMR. You will lose weight due to the additional calories you burn from exercise.
Other tips include drinking a lot of water, drinking their Results and Recovery Forumula before, during or right after the Insanity Workout if desired. They also suggest following “Michi’s Ladder” a guideline that divides food in five tiers: pious, happy, swiss, dodgy and newburg.
Beachbody coaches also sell a Shakeology shake with 280 calories, 34 grams of protein, 2 grams of fat and 6 grams of fiber. Shakeology has supports healthy blood sugar levels similar to the Almased Diet Plan.
Here’s a sample of what I ate on the Sean T. Beachbody Insanity Workout Diet
Meal One: Egg White breakfast wrap with 4 egg whites, 1 whole-grain (or sprouted) tortilla, 1/2 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese, sliced tomato, 1/2 cup melon
Meal Two: 1 nutrition bar with 200 calories and 10 grams of protein and fewer than 25 grams of sugar and 1/2 cup 1 percent cottage cheese
Meal Three:1 cup of canned black bean soup, 1 slice whole grain bread, 2 ounces turkey breast, 2 thin slices of avocado, mustard
Meal Four: Rotisserie chicken and salad with four ounces of chicken, mixed greens, 1 tsp. olive oil, lemon and 1 granny smith apple (the tart kind).
Meal Five: Grilled salmon with asparagus with 4 ounces of salmon, 1 tsp. honey mustard, steamed asparagus and 1/2 cup whole grain pasta.
Again, the Insanity Diet is for anyone, but the Insanity workout is not for beginners. Don’t try the Insanity Workout if you have medical problems or are a senior citizen. The program works best for men and also for women who are more athletic such as the hour glass body shape. Determine your particular body type to know if the Insanity workout and diet is best for you.
My results on the Insanity Diet: I lost almost 2 pounds in five days.
Bottom line for Insanity Diet: I liked the diet but would make a few substitutions by using rice pasta, rice and replace some of the dairy on the plan.
