Foods That Burn Fat

Is there such a thing as foods that burn fat? This is one of the most frequently questions that many of my readers ask me in their e-mails.

The truth is that there is no food that actually burns body fat fat. There are foods that have a high thermic effect, and when you consume them, your body burns a large part of the calories contained in them during the digestion and utilization process.

The food with the highest thermic effect is protein. Your body has to work harder to digest, process and utilize protein, when compared to carbohydrates and dietary fat.

This is the main reason why low carb diets are so effective. When you lower the daily carbohydrate intake and increase your daily protein intake, your body has to use more energy to burn this nutrient.

The expression "thermic effect of food" is used to describe the energy expended by our bodies in order to consume (bite, chew and swallow) and process (digest, transport, metabolize and store) food.

Our organisms "expend energy" by burning calories. Processing protein requires the greatest expenditure of energy, with estimates ranging as high as 30%.

Dietary fat, on the other hand, is so easily processed and turned into body fat that there is little thermic effect, perhaps only 2 or 3%.

The amount of energy required to process carbohydrates is around 10 to 15%, so it is somewhere in between that of protein and dietary fat.

What this actually means, is that eating a well balanced diet, with the right nutrient ratios is the most effective way to help your body burn calories.

And eventhough there are no foods that burn fat, there are many options that you have to lose weight permanently using effective nutrition strategies.

But the best way to actually burn fat, is by doing aerobic exercise (cardio) on a regular basis. This is the secret to long term weight loss.

If you want to learn how to create a lean, healthy body and maintain it for life, we suggest you start with our and at your own pace read all the information that I have prepared for you in this site.

You can do this at your own pace, especially considering that permanently losing body fat is a process that will take a long time for most people if it is done right.

Losing one pound of body fat per week is the ultimate approach to creating the body of your dreams. When most people attempt to lose more than this, they usually lose mostly muscle and water intsead of body fat.

My weight loss program is based on over 15 years of experience in the area of weight loss, nutrition and exercise, and on these pages I will give you the whole blueprint on creating the body of your dreams.

So even though there are no foods that burn fat, there are many effective nutrition strategies that help your body burn more calories, and in the end calories are the most important element of a long term, effective weight loss program.
