Five Green Ways To Exercise

Regular exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health and fitness, and it is something you can do that is totally green.

Most folks think that in order to exercise they need a health club, trainer, and expensive equipment, but there are a lot of green exercises you can do. The next time you are getting ready to work off the calories, try one of these energy free workouts that you can do without plugging in or consuming a large amount of power.

Walk, Run, Sprint

The best way to burn off the calories is constant movement, and walking, running, sprinting, and jogging are the best forms of movement you can do. Running is great for the body because it requires you to use most of the muscles in your body and aids in weight loss. It is also the greenest form of exercise because it requires nothing other than your own energy and effort to perform.

Cycling

Like running, cycling is a great way to get the workout that you need without any energy consumption being created. Even better, because cycling is a way of getting around, it can be done as purely exercise or thrown into the middle of your daily activities.

Grab a bike, strap on a helmet and hit the trails for as long as your legs can stand. As long as you stick to the traditional mode of cycling, it is a great way to have some green exercise and you might even find that it is a great way to get around the neighborhood rather than driving for quick errands.

Jumping Rope

Jump roping needs to shed its playground status because it is a great form of aerobic exercise that everyone can do no matter their age or skill. All you need is a rope and yourself, you don’t even need a jumping partner or any other equipment, though digital jump ropes are available to keep track of your efforts. This very green form of exercise can be done indoors or outdoors and takes up absolutely no energy and leaves behind no waste.

Join A League

Sometimes the best way to get fit is to workout with friends, and organized sports are a practical and fast way to do so. Softball, bowling, hockey, and other field teams are a great way for you to burn off the extra calories that you are carrying around and get some muscle toning at the same time.

If there are no organized leagues near you that you can join, try getting your friends or family together for a weekly game. Chances are everyone around you could and would appreciate the exercise.

Strength Training

As strength training gets more focused and technological, it also becomes less green. You can stick to a very diverse and well rounded strength training program using free weights and other resistance equipment that does not need to be plugged in and use up energy.

By simply using weights and other simple forms of equipment you can still get a great workout and save energy
