Daily Carbohydrate Intake

The optimum daily carbohydrate intake is 50% of your daily calories.

This is the best place to start a long term weight loss diet, and also for maintaining your ideal weight once it is reached.

Using the 50-30-20 nutrient ratio is almost an ideal way to provide your organism with everything it needs to function on a daily basis.

This means that 50% of your daily calories should come from carbohydrates, 30% from lean protein and 20% from good dietary fat.

This is the moderate approach and it works the best in the long run. Sure, you can eat more protein, but eventually you will start to feel a drop in your energy levels.

Complex carbohydrates, both starchy and fibrous kind are the most preferred source of fuel for your body.

By consuming them in moderate amounts you will always have the energy you need to exercise during your weight loss program.

Without exercise, long term weight loss is almost impossible for people that have problems losing unwanted body fat, and this is why a moderate carbohydrate intake is so important for creating a lean, healthy body.

And of course eating more dietary fat is not the way to go either, since this nutrient contains 9 calories per gram, compared to 4 calories per gram in carbohydrates and protein.

In the end, using the 50-30-20 nutrient ratio will put you in the best position to reach your ideal weight and create the body of your dreams!
