Counting Calories for Long Term
Weight Loss

Counting calories is the most important step in long term weight loss.

The reason for this is simple; if you consume more calories than your body burns you will gain weight.

If you consume fewer calories than your body requires, eventually you will start to lose muscle and your metabolism will start to slow down.

When this happens, what once was maintenance level will become surplus, meaning you will eat the same amount of food but gain weight because your body will not be burning your food as efficiently as before the muscle loss.

This is why the law of energy (calorie) balance is without a doubt the most important law that you must obey if you want to create and after that, maintain a lean, healthy body.

Calorie counting simply means to count how many calories are in the food you consume on a daily basis and making sure it is the same amount of calories your body burns during the day.

The amount of calories that your body burns during the day should be calculated using your lean body mass and your daily activity level.

This will give you the most accurate number of calories that your organism can burn during the day, and the way to do this can be found in this calculating TDEE section.

Counting calories will put you on the path toward creating the body of your dreams and will also help you to maintain your ideal weight once you reach it.

This is why doing these calculations over and over will really make a difference.

With time as you build new muscle using weight training, your muscle mass will increase, and so will your metabolism.

This is why calculating your daily calorie expenditure has to be a regular part of your health creation strategy, and should not be ignored once you reach your ideal weight.
