When you start a fat loss diet strange things happen!. Your fat body is not entirely overjoyed to lose its fat content. Instead you start to lose the good bits such as bone density & muscle.

A new research study carried out in Denmark, which was reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition discovered that when men dieted correctly less than 60% of the lost weight was fat. The remainder was lean muscle. When men regained weight only 24% of the weight regained was lean muscle – over 75% of the added weight after weight loss was more fat. The results proving that for people who yo-yo diet – living in a cycle of weight reduction and then adding it back on again – the lean tissues in their body are over a period of time being replaced by fat.

The same research indicated that the story for women is even worse! During the diet 35% of the weight lost was lean tissue – initially less than for men. BUT when reading weight only 15% was lean tissue. When women lost and then regained weight, lean tissue was not sufficiently regained – 85% of the weight restored had turned into fat.
