When you start a weight loss diet strange things happen!. Your fat body is not at all happy to give up its fat content. Instead of losing pure weight you start to lose the good bits such as bone density & muscle.

A recent research study carried out in Scandinavia, and reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that when men dieted strictly less than 60% of the weight lost was fat. The remainder was lean tissues. When the same men studied regained weight only 24% of the weight regained was lean tissue – over 75% of the weight regained after having lost weight was more fat. The results proving that for people who yo-yo diet – living in a cycle of weight reduction and then adding it back on again – the muscle within their body are over a period of time being replaced by fat.

Another similar research showed that the results for women is even worse! During the diet 35% of the loss was lean tissue – originally less than recorded within the male study. BUT on regaining weight only 15% was lean tissue. When the women in the case study lost and then readded weight, lean tissue was not completely restored – 85% of the weight regained had turned into fat.

Create belly fat loss by consuming alcohol in moderation

Consuming alcohol in moderation can help you with belly fat loss.

Alcohol does not make you fat directly, and this is where this gets really tricky. Since the alcohol itself is metabolized by the liver, it is not converted to body fat.

But, because your body can’t store alcohol, and must detoxify it as quick as possible, this process takes the top spot over the oxidation of other macronutrients.

What this means is that while your liver is metabolizing alcohol, the digestion and utilization of carbohydrates, proteins and dietary fats, is put on hold.

While the alcohol is metabolized by your liver and those calories are not used as energy, the calories that are contained in your alcohol drinks do count, and are added to your daily calorie intake.

What this means is that if your drink a lot of beer, or cocktails you might be in a calorie surplus, which will always lead to weight gain.

The worst things about combining alcohol with your food is that dietary fat is at the bottom of the oxidative hierarchy, it gets suppressed the most, and most likely the fat that you consume with your meal will be converted to body fat.

This means that consuming alcohol in more than the 1-2 drinks will seriously impair your body’s ability to use dietary fat for fuel.

With time this will lead to your body storing more and more body fat, and your weight loss program will not produce the results that you are after.

If you want to lose stomach fat, and create the body of your dreams, it is a very good idea to consume alcohol in moderation.

This means one to two drinks per day, and of course drinking only once in a while.

Creating a flat stomach is very difficult for people that have a slow metabolism, especially when they consume alcohol with their food, or consume it right after eating their food.
